Long distance
Made in Glasgow, for wherever they are.
The hardest part of distance is not missing them. It is the drift - the days where nothing happens and neither of you can point at anything that went wrong. KTL gives those days a shape.
Free. Set up in about a minute.
Why it fits
Five things that matter when you live apart.
-
Nothing needs you both online at once
Every part of the loop is asynchronous. Send a boost at 2am your time and it is waiting when they wake up. Talking Hearts holds your answer until they reply. Nothing expires because you were asleep in the wrong timezone.
-
The map is for the visits
Long distance means your shared places are scattered and rare. Pin every one (the airport, their kitchen, the weekend in a city neither of you lived in) and watch the fog come off a map that is only yours.
-
The streak survives a bad week
Streak freezes exist because time zones, work trips and flat batteries are real. Earn one a week, bank up to three, and a missed day gets covered instead of wiping the flame.
-
Rewards cross distance
The reward you owe them does not have to be in the same room. A phones-away hour on call, a film you both start at the same second, something posted to their door. You set the treat and the price.
-
You get a record of it
Monthly Wrapped replays what the two of you actually did: the boosts, the questions you answered, the places you pinned. When the distance feels long, it is proof the months were not empty.
A day apart
What it actually looks like.
Four small moments, none of which need you both free at the same time.
-
While they are asleep
Send a boost with a proper reason. It is waiting when they wake up, and it is the first thing they see.
-
Over your coffee
Answer the day’s Talking Hearts question. Yours stays sealed until they answer theirs.
-
Whenever it lands
Open the daily chest. Sometimes XP, sometimes a love note, sometimes a task only you can see.
-
After a visit
Pin the places you went. The fog lifts on both maps, and the visit stops being a blur.
Straight answers
What long-distance couples ask us.
Does KTL work for long-distance couples?
That is who it is built around. The whole loop is asynchronous, so nothing needs you both awake at the same time. Boosts wait for them, Talking Hearts holds your answer until they reply, streak freezes cover the days that get away from you, and both phones stay in sync without refreshing.
Do I need to give KTL my location?
No. The map has no GPS and no location tracking. Fog only lifts where one of you deliberately taps to pin a memory, and the town and country are looked up from the spot you tapped. Never from your device.
What happens if we break our streak?
You lose the flame and nothing else. No XP, no levels, no trophies. If you have a streak freeze banked it is spent automatically to cover the missed day, and you only reset once you are out of freezes.
Is there an app to download?
Not yet. KTL is coming to Google Play and the App Store, free on both. Join the waitlist and we email you once when your wave opens.
Your situation
Long distance looks different for everyone.
-
Deployed or on duty
Comms blackouts, rotating schedules, no fixed call time.
Built for deployment → -
Different campuses
Lectures, exams, and a term that will not move for either of you.
Built for term time →
Often both at once
Distance is not the only kind of gap.
If one of you also has ADHD or is autistic, this is not a second, separate page about a different kind of couple - it is the same design doing both jobs. One prompt a day, answers that seal on send, a hard daily cap and streaks that forgive you were all built so the app never needs you both awake, in sync, or at your best on the same day.
The same design, for neurodivergent couples →
